  1. What is Butyl Acetate?
Butyl acetate is commonly manufactured by the Fischer esterification of butanol (or its isomer to make an isomer of butyl acetate) and acetic acid with the presence of sulfuric acid.
A colorless, flammable liquid, it is an ester derived from n-butanol and acetic acid. It is found in many types of fruit, where it imparts characteristic flavors and has a sweet smell of banana or apple. It is used as an industrial solvent.

  1. What is Butyl Acetate applications:
Butyl acetate is mainly used in photographic film, nail polish removers, lacquers, perfumes, oils, and resins.
  • Paint industry: widely used as diluent for polyurethane paint, acrylic resin paint, nitrocellulose paint, peroxyethylene paint, etc.
  • Production of fluorescent lamps: Used as a solvent for fluorescent powder adhesives in the production of fluorescent lamps.
  • Knitted fabric foam artificial leather (finishing agent): used as a solvent in the finishing agent.
  • Pharmaceutical industry: In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used as an organic solvent (extraction agent) for the production of erythromycin.
  • Fragrances and spices: spices, such as banana, pineapple, apricot, pear and other ingredients of various fragrances.
  • Packaging, storage, and transportation: Butyl acetate is not significantly corrosive to metals when dry and can be stored in mild steel or aluminum containers.
  • Good solvent for camphor, mineral oil, grease, synthetic resin, natural and synthetic rubber, photographic film, spices, etc.
